On some rides (such as Flight of Passage in Pandora) you will miss a lot of elements that are viewable in the regular line, so you might want to head back to the line just to check out what you missed. You can usually arrive 5 minutes early or 15 minutes late and still gain access. You enter a line specifically for FastPass+ holders and skip a lot of the Standby line to reach the front quicker.
